There have been conflicting views on whether the use of freshwater should be controlled or not. In my opinion, government regulations on water usage should be put in place so that this limited natural resource can be utilized in an equitable manner.
The proponents of unrestricted access to water may view it as a fundamental human right. They may believe that they are entitled to use as much water as they see fit for their daily activities, such as taking long showers or leaving the tap running when brushing their teeth. Restricting their water consumption is a violation of their human rights. However, I think these are selfish individuals who fail to consider the impact of their actions on the larger global community.
On the other hand, there are those who argue that water should be managed as a limited natural resource in order for it to be distributed equitably across the globe. To be specific, many regions are facing recurrent droughts, and people there are experiencing a water shortage. Therefore, conservation is necessary to ensure that everyone in the world has access to this limited resource. After all, water is crucial to human survival and, without it, many people would become sick and even die. I agree that the government should regulate the use of freshwater. Otherwise, there will always be individuals who waste water and disregard the needs of those living in arid areas.
In conclusion, although free access to freshwater is a basic human need, I believe controlling its usage is necessary to secure its equitable distribution among all people on earth. (265 Words)
